After waking up in Heybury, Idaho. We fueled the truck and headed west along I-84 towards Hermiston, Oregon. The weather was absolutely gorgeous out. Along the route, I got to experience several climbs and downgrades to practice using the compression brake and making sure I selected the correct gear both up and down.
I also got to experience Deadman's Pass for the first time with 80,000 lbs. I selected 7th gear and the compression brake held me to 25mph all the way down. No issues at all.
After arriving at Walmart's Distribution Center, we dropped the trailer and located an empty trailer, as our next load was in Tacoma. It is also worth mentioning, that while at the Walmart location, I ran into a friend from my Aviation Spotting days. He s a company driver for Walmart and was returning after a run.
So we hauled butt to make it before both of our clocks expired. We dropped the empty trailer off and bobtailed it over to Loves Travel Center in Fife to sleep the night away.
